Star Legacy Foundation Expands Grief Support for Families Experiencing the Loss of a Baby
Thanks to the generous support of Eagles for Children, the Star Legacy Foundation and the Wisconsin Center for Stillbirth and Infant Death were able to expand compassionate support and resources for families navigating the devastating loss of a baby.
Over the past year, nearly 350 families received grief support services through the organization’s programs. For families experiencing the loss of a baby, these services provide connection, understanding, and a supportive community during an incredibly difficult time.
Grief can often feel isolating, making opportunities to connect with others who have experienced a similar loss especially meaningful. With support from Eagles for Children, the organization facilitated more than 200 hours of grief support groups throughout the year.
These groups provide a safe and supportive environment where parents and families can share their experiences, process their grief, and connect with others who understand the unique challenges of losing a baby. Through consistent and accessible support, families are given a place to feel heard, supported, and less alone as they navigate their grief.
The impact of the grant also extended to the healthcare professionals who care for families during and after pregnancy loss. The Star Legacy Foundation hosted several continuing education workshops focused on improving bereavement care, strengthening communication with grieving families, and sharing best practices related to stillbirth and infant death prevention.
By providing healthcare professionals with additional knowledge and tools, these educational opportunities help create a more informed and compassionate network of care for families experiencing loss.
Together, the combination of direct family support, peer connection, and professional education is helping strengthen the resources available to grieving families throughout Wisconsin. The impact reaches beyond the numbers, touching families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives while helping build a community where they can find understanding and support.
Eagles for Children’s support helps make this important work possible, ensuring that families navigating profound loss have access to compassionate resources and that the professionals caring for them are better equipped to provide meaningful support.
Together, we are helping families find connection, compassion, and support when they need it most … for the kids!
