LifeLab Kids Expands Inclusive Learning and Recreation Opportunities for Children with Developmental Disabilities

Thanks to generous support from Oakland Hills Country Club, Orchard Lake Country Club, and Red Run Golf Club through Eagles for Children, LifeLab Kids was able to expand innovative learning, therapeutic, and recreational opportunities for children with developmental disabilities in 2026.

The funding supported materials for an RC Car STEM Learning Program, a 3D printerbalance and adaptive bikes for the Recreational Therapy Program, and a communication board for the Outdoor Play Park. Together, these resources are helping create more opportunities for children to learn new skills, build confidence, communicate, and participate in inclusive play.

Through the RC Car STEM Learning Program, 30 children will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities designed to foster communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and confidence. By learning through an interactive and engaging experience, children can explore STEM concepts while developing skills they can carry into other areas of their lives.

The addition of balance bikes and adaptive bikes to LifeLab Kids’ Recreational Therapy Program will benefit 42 children, providing opportunities to work on gross motor development, coordination, and confidence. Adaptive recreation allows children with varying abilities to participate alongside their peers, encouraging both physical development and inclusive play.

Support also helped LifeLab Kids add a communication board to its Outdoor Play Park. The board will support more than 60 children by creating additional opportunities for communication and social engagement. By making communication tools available within the play environment, LifeLab Kids is helping ensure that children with different communication abilities can more fully participate and connect with others.

Each of these resources serves a different purpose, but together they contribute to a more accessible and inclusive environment where children can learn, explore, communicate, and grow.

The impact of Eagles for Children’s support extends beyond the addition of new equipment and program materials. These resources expand access to therapeutic experiences that help children develop important skills while creating opportunities for them to participate in activities alongside their peers.

Through innovative programming and inclusive spaces, LifeLab Kids continues to provide children with developmental disabilities opportunities to build confidence, develop new abilities, and experience the joy of learning and play.

Eagles for Children’s partnership is helping make these experiences possible for children and families in the community. Together, we are creating more inclusive opportunities for children to learn, grow, connect, and thrive … for the kids!
