Thanks to the generous support of Oakland Hills Country Club, Orchard Lake Country Club, and Red Run Golf Club, Kensington Church was able to continue and expand its performing arts programming for Pontiac students through a valued partnership with Kaleo Arts, reaching approximately 1,000 K–5 students.
Kaleo Arts creates fun, engaging environments where school-age children explore music, movement, and storytelling/acting. This is especially impactful in schools where performing arts aren’t available during the school day, and for families who face barriers to participating in after-school programming.
Through weekly sessions, students experienced drama, music, and dance in a way that fostered creativity, confidence, and leadership. Teachers reported seeing students grow as they auditioned for solos, encouraged one another, stepped into leadership roles, and ultimately performed together on stage in school-wide showcases.
The impact was felt beyond the stage. Teachers noticed improved attendance on class days, as students were excited and didn’t want to miss out. One teacher shared, “I love seeing my ESL students, who are often quiet in class, come alive during performances. It gives them a sense of belonging and connection to their classmates.”
A school principal added, “Kaleo Kids is a magnificent teaching tool that imparts positive character traits through song and dance. In a world where kindness isn’t always central, this program helps build character and confidence in fun, meaningful ways.”
Eagles for Children is proud to support Kensington Church and their efforts to bring creativity, connection, and confidence to children through the power of the performing arts.
